ACC Online Learning
ABOUT THE VIRTUAL WORKSHOP
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED
New to the aviation industry, or need an introductory overview on airfield pavement? Join us on August 9th for ACC's second 2022 one-day virtual workshop - Pavement 101. This virtual workshop provides an overview of airfield pavement design and evaluation concepts and targets junior engineers who are new to airfield pavements. Presenters will introduce the fundamentals of pavement systems and pavement design concepts. The workshop will also discuss the fundamentals of the pavement life cycle to include pavement condition analysis and prediction, maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction. Attendees will hear about selection of the right pavement system based on life-cycle cost and other network-level strategies for an airfield. The workshop concludes with a small group problem to reinforce the concepts covered in the lessons. Topics will include references to relevant FAA guidance including Advisory Circulars, Engineering Briefs and pavement design and analysis software. Join your industry peers and register today!
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this ACC program, participants will be able to:
• Describe the components of rigid and flexible pavements and critical aspects of each pavement type that affect its performance
• Explain basic pavement responses to traffic and environmental loading
• Conceptualize the life-cycle of rigid and flexible pavements along with maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction considerations and strategies.
• Understand the critical factors to consider when selecting the appropriate pavement type to include function, programmatic strategies and life-cycle costs associated with the various pavement types.
• Perform a basic life-cycle cost analysis for rigid and flexible pavements and make a pavement design selection using the concepts learned during the workshop.
