This one-hour course is about access management, concerning the safe and efficient location of driveways and median openings. In this course you will learn how to interpret local code and administrative code in establishing driveway locations; develop a simple traffic study in support of a driveway permit; and calculate queue, deceleration, and taper lengths for a driveway turn lane. (Intermediate – 1 hour).


Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
• Identify safe driveway and median opening configurations for public access.
• Apply local planning code and federal standards to driveway location and design for the safety of the public.
• Compute safe queue length and deceleration and taper lengths for driveway turn lanes.
• Prepare driveway permit applications and associated traffic studies.
