This ACC webinar will be an open, roundtable-like discussion of challenges that have come up during recent industry construction projects and the sharing of lessons learned. The discussion will be among a panel of professionals with recent airport construction project experience.  Panelists will review several pre-determined topics, as well as take questions from attendees. The discussion will allow the panelists to share some of their experiences and shed light on some potential problems that could come up during construction and how avoid them. Participants will learn the importance of good communication between the engineer and owner, as well as the advantages to a more collaborative relationship with the contractor. Hear about the importance of having good information on existing conditions prior to beginning a project, and the value in investing in good record drawings. Learn about the value of consistent progress meetings and maintaining thorough documentation throughout the construction process. The panel will also review specific projects that highlight the advantages of good communication, projects that show how well things can go when a heavy investment is made in things upfront, such as survey and utility location, and an example of how costly change orders can occur when those investments are not made.

At the end of this ACC webinar, participants will be able to:
• Summarize the importance of good communication between the owner and engineer leading up to and during construction projects.
• Define the advantages of a more collaborative approach to the engineer/contractor relationship.
• Identify the benefits of obtaining plenty of existing conditions information prior to beginning a project.
• Recognize the value of consistent progress meetings and maintaining good records during construction.
